CMC TELECOM SELECTS LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES AND DYNAVAR NETWORKING TO DEPLOY COMPLETE NEXT-GEN TDM AND VOIP SOLUTION

CMC Telecom to deploy Lucent Compact Switch as part of complete IMS solution to evolve from UNE-P network to facilities based provider

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 2005

CHICAGO and MURRAY HILL, N.J. - Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) and Dynavar Networking, an accredited Lucent Sales Business Partner, today at SUPERCOMM announced an agreement with CMC Telecom Inc. to install a complete end-to-end Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution. CMC Telecom will be using selected products and services from Lucent’s Accelerate™ Next-Generation Communications Solutions portfolio to offer its customers next-generation VoIP services, such as IP Centrex and unified messaging.

CMC Telecom, a full service telecommunication services provider headquartered in Wixom, Michigan, offers a wide array of voice, data and Internet services for its residential, small, medium, and large business customers.

Under the terms of the agreement, CMC Telecom will deploy the Lucent Compact Switch as part of the product and services included within the end-to-end IMS solution that will allow the provider to transition from an Unbundled Network Elements-Platform (UNE-P) to a facilities based provider. This evolution will enable CMC Telecom to offer TDM, DSL and cutting edge next-generation VoIP applications to its existing customer base, while also acquiring new customers. As an accredited Lucent Sales Business Partner, Dynavar is furnishing CMC Telecom with the Lucent Compact Switch and also will provide a full set of turnkey professional services.

“Faced with changes in UNE-P regulation, we needed to transition into a facilities based infrastructure with great speed, but without sacrificing the quality of our customer services,” said Craig Champagne, president and chief executive officer, CMC Telecom Inc. “Through Lucent’s solution, we were not only able to evolve quickly and easily to a full IMS solution capable of supporting additional next-generation services for our customers, but through Dynavar, Lucent’s business partner, we received a full turnkey of services from consulting to deployment at an attractive price.”

“Dynavar is excited about the Lucent Compact Switch deployment as it is integrated with various other Lucent products solutions that were engineered, furnished and installed by Dynavar as a total integrated solution for our customer CMC. We know they will be very happy with the results of this engineered solution,” said Greg Miller, president & CEO, Dynavar Networking.

"As part of the complete IMS solution, our compact switch was key in allowing CMC Telecom upgrade their network quickly, reliably and in a cost-effective manner," said Gerry Cafaro, vice president of sales for Lucent Technologies. “By partnering with companies such as Dynavar, we were able to offer a compelling end-to-end solution to meet CMC Telecom’s specific needs, and allowed them to roll-out exciting advanced new VoIP services such as unified messaging to their existing customers while also attracting a new client base.”

CMC Telecom will install a complete next-generation TDM and VoIP Solution consisting of Accelerate™ Next-Generation Communications Solutions products and services. Included within the end-to-end solution is the Lucent Compact Switch, Feature Server 3000, AnyMedia® LAG2300 and PSAX1250.

The Lucent Compact Switch can support from as few as 1,000 subscribers to more than 100,000 subscribers on a single integrated platform. Service providers can deploy the switch for end-office (Class 5) and tandem (Class 4) applications to replace an existing switch or as an addition to the network. In addition to providing VoIP, Internet off-load and gateway mobile switching center features, the compact switch also offers CALEA and E911 capabilities. In addition, Lucent recently introduced a new high-performance DS1 blade for the Lucent Compact Switch (and the Lucent Network Gateway) that can make the system even more efficient and economical at the lower port densities, ideal for independent telephone companies and smaller rural end offices.
